The smog is so deep that some rumors began to breed on the Internet.
Recently, an article entitled "China is secretly burning a dirtier fuel than coal" was spread; After New Year’s Day, the smog truth — — Imported high sulfur petroleum coke began to spread wildly again. Both articles are aimed at "petroleum coke", all said that this is a more "dirty" fuel than coal, and China is still importing a lot.
Then the media denied that the previous article was actually an old article in 2014, and the latter article was not written by Sister Ying Da. howeverSimple rumors can no longer convince the public, and only scientific facts and accurate data can dispel public doubts.. So what exactly is "petroleum coke"? Is it really related to smog?

The data shows that Guangdong, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Fujian and other places import more petroleum coke. Only Tianjin has a small amount of imports in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and the imports in Beijing are extremely low, so petroleum coke is not the main contribution to smog in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
In August, 2015, the second amendment of People’s Republic of China (PRC) Air Pollution Prevention Law clearly stipulated that the import, sale and burning of petroleum coke that did not meet the quality standards were prohibited in 2016.
On December 22, 2016, the National Energy Administration and the Ministry of Environmental Protection jointly issued a notice requesting key areas and cities for air pollution prevention and control, such as Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, to prohibit the approval of the construction of self-owned petroleum coke-fired thermal power (including thermal power) projects.
At present, policies for the management and use of petroleum coke have been introduced one after another. As long as desulfurization and out-of-stock equipment are installed according to regulations, supervision is in place and law enforcement is strict, petroleum coke will not aggravate smog.
Then who is the real murderer who created the smog? Chen Jining, Minister of Environmental Protection, held a press conference on the evening of 6th and gave the answer with a set of data.

Why is the smog in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei not getting better in winter? Minister Chen Jining said that from the whole year of 2016, there has been real progress in air pollution control, but if we look at winter alone, the progress is limited or even no progress. One of the reasons is the heating problem in winter.

It’ s not overnight from the Qing Dynasty; It is also difficult to get rid of the haze and return to the Qing Dynasty in a day. In the final analysis, it is necessary to make major adjustments to the industrial structure and energy structure, which is inevitably a long-term process.
