Press conference on the international evaluation of master’s degree in landscape architecture/landscape architecture of Beijing Forestry University.
Cctv news(Reporter Luo Shuqian) From May 21 to 23, an international evaluation committee composed of nine internationally renowned university deans, heads of trade associations and design masters from Europe, America and Asia conducted a two-and-a-half-day field trip at Beijing Forestry University to evaluate the master’s degree in landscape architecture/landscape architecture, which is the first time that a Chinese university has organized an international evaluation in this discipline.
During the inspection, the international evaluation committee and its party held more than 20 discussions with senior professors, young teachers and students of landscape architecture in Beijing Forestry University, and made a comprehensive and in-depth inspection and evaluation on the talent training, scientific research and academic platform of the School of Landscape Architecture. It is believed that the discipline of landscape architecture in Beijing Forestry University has reached the international high level and produced considerable international influence.
Wang Hongyuan, secretary of the Party Committee of our school, said at the welcome meeting that this international evaluation is the first time in the history of Beilin and the first time in the history of landscape architecture education in China, which is a milestone. I hope that through more extensive and in-depth international cooperation, we can promote common prosperity with the development of world landscape architecture.
Li Xiong, vice president of Beijing Forestry University, said that the goal of Beijing Forestry University is to build the discipline of landscape architecture into an internationally recognized world-class top discipline. Through this evaluation, firstly, the comprehensive strength of the discipline is tested by international standards, the internationalization level of the discipline is improved, and it becomes a world-class discipline rooted in China; Second, I hope to promote the overall development of landscape architecture industry through the development of landscape architecture discipline, and build a beautiful China with the help of the industry under the background of ecological civilization construction; Third, I hope to promote the traditional culture of China landscape architecture, enhance cultural self-confidence, and fully exchange and learn from each other with international counterparts to increase international recognition.
Wang Xiangrong, Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture of Beijing Forestry University, said that in 2017, the School of Landscape Architecture entered the ranks of national "world-class discipline" construction. The College of Landscape Architecture hopes to objectively evaluate the overall strength level of the discipline through international evaluation, and further consolidate its position as a world-class discipline through "promoting construction through evaluation", enhance the internationalization degree and international vision of the discipline, and make the discipline construction level reach a new level.
The scope of the disciplines involved in this evaluation includes the whole discipline of landscape architecture (landscape architecture is the main subject, and some disciplines involve urban and rural planning, architecture, landscape plants and ornamental gardening, tourism management, etc.), involving two levels of undergraduate education and postgraduate education, and two types of academic degree authorization points of landscape architecture and professional degree authorization points of master of landscape architecture. The evaluation contents include: school objectives, school background, school ideas, teaching staff, personnel training, teaching system, academic research, social services, international cooperation and exchange, research funding support, etc.
