-Documentary report of the periodical editing and sharing meeting "Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the founding of the discipline of ideological and political education and the discipline construction of ideological and political education in the process of modernization and civilization of the Chinese nation"

  Recently, a long-awaited special sharing meeting of periodical editors was held in Wuhan. From Teaching and Research, Research on Marxist Theory, Copies of Newspapers and Materials by the National People’s Congress, Guide to Ideological and Theoretical Education, Ideological Front, Ideological and Theoretical Education, Ideological Education Research, Journal of Guizhou Normal University (Social Science Edition), Party Building and Ideological Education in Schools, Contemporary China Marxist Studies, China Social Science Network and other periodicals and periodicals. The purpose of this sharing session is to gather representatives of high-level journals in the industry and provide a platform for academic training, answering questions, exchange and sharing for young scholars of ideological and political education in colleges and universities. The sharing session was co-chaired by Zhang Nan, deputy editor-in-chief of Research on Marxist Theory, and Jin Xiaoping, a professor at the School of Marxism of Wuhan University.

  At the beginning of the sharing session, Professor Xiang Jiuyu, head of the discipline of ideological and political education in Wuhan University and academic leader, extended a warm welcome to the editors and scholars attending the session, and recalled the concern and support of the journals for the discipline of ideological and political education in Wuhan University from three perspectives of gratitude, exclamation and sentiment. At the same time, he placed high hopes on young scholars, hoping that young scholars would be more firm in theory, broader in thinking and deeper in exploration.

  Zhao Chang, editor of "People’s Congress Copying Newspapers and Materials", had an in-depth exchange with the young scholars present on three issues: the criteria for selecting manuscripts for copying newspapers and periodicals, the review process and the platform construction. She pointed out that at present, copying newspapers and periodicals have set up a professional manuscript selection team with a relatively mature manuscript selection system and academic platform to judge the academic, innovative, valuable and practical nature of manuscripts through special screening, quantitative indicators and layer-by-layer auditing, and gradually improve and expand the radiation, influence and communication of manuscripts by strictly controlling quality, controlling quantity and broadening horizons.

  Yan Zheng, the editor of Teaching and Research, briefly introduced the article publishing, column setting, evolution and development of Teaching and Research to young scholars from the review of the course of journal creation. He gave targeted guidance on how to write a high-quality, high-level and high-standard academic paper from four aspects: the consistency of the topic, the theory of the article, the maturity of the article and the innovation of the article. At the same time, he stressed that the cultivation and application of interdisciplinary research perspective is very important for thesis writing.

  Jiang Hong, editor-in-chief of Ideological Front, shared with the young scholars attending the meeting the mental process of starting and running a journal from the aspects of historical development, column setting, brand characteristics, topic selection direction and academic norms, and explained the evaluation index of the most hard core of high-quality academic papers from four angles: academic thinking, theoretical level, problem consciousness and innovation consciousness. At the same time, she also reminded young scholars to pay attention to academic rigor and standardization, broaden their academic horizons and strengthen their academic skills.

  Yang Zhongqi, editor and director of the editorial office of Journal of Guizhou Normal University (Social Science Edition), introduced the criteria for selecting and using articles in the journal to young scholars from three aspects: the perspective of topic selection, the direction of efforts and the focus on reality. He pointed out that micro-cutting and theoretical sublimation are important methods to enhance the theoretical nature of articles, and emphasized that academic research should be oriented towards building philosophy and social sciences with China characteristics, clarify the research focus, strengthen the awareness of problems and enhance the practical value. He also pointed out in particular that academic research should face the objective and practical needs of social development, discipline construction and global communication.

  Bi Yan, director of the academic editorial department of China Social Science Network, talked about the basic standards of manuscript evaluation and selection from three aspects: effectiveness, conformity and standardization. She pointed out that academic papers should not be dull and straightforward, empty and abstract, and blindly follow the trend, but should pay attention to standardized expression, rigorous quotation, correct views and unique opinions. In addition, she also stressed that young scholars should take thesis writing seriously, do a good job in accumulating knowledge, strictly express language, and clarify academic concepts to lay a solid foundation for growth and progress.

  Xia Huan, editor of Ideological Education Research, shared the 40-year history of Ideological Education Research from three aspects: publication development, column setting and dominant tradition. She pointed out that publicizing the latest academic achievements, providing a platform for exchange and learning, and paying attention to supporting and cultivating young scholars are the academic initial intentions that the publication has always adhered to. She also gave targeted suggestions on the topic selection and contribution of young scholars: starting from small problems and achieving effective output. She also reminded young scholars to pay attention to the interpretation of concepts and principles and the construction of knowledge system in their research.

  Wang Shijin, deputy editor-in-chief of Marxism Studies in Contemporary China, taught young scholars the matters needing attention in writing articles from the aspects of problem consciousness, normative consciousness, innovative thinking and dialectical thinking. He pointed out that selecting topics from problems, focusing on analyzing and solving problems, promoting theoretical innovation, content innovation, method innovation and concept innovation, and pursuing theoretical, practical and practical values of academic research are of great significance to academic paper writing.

  Xu Xiaomei, editor of Research on Marxist Theory, shared the basic situation of the journal from three aspects: coverage, column setting and recent topic selection. She pointed out that "Research on Marxist Theory Discipline" is the only publication named after the name of Marxist theory discipline at present, which contains all two disciplines of Marxist theory, pays attention to the cutting-edge interpretation of principles and basic theoretical research, and pays attention to the conciseness and conciseness of language, aiming at providing more opportunities for young scholars to publish articles.

  Li Xixian, editor of Ideological and Theoretical Education Guide, shared his feelings and understanding since he was engaged in editing. He pointed out that it is necessary to improve the employment rate of articles by grasping the style of publications, clarifying the orientation of publications and understanding the trend of publishing articles. He believes that artificial intelligence has a very limited role in paper writing and cannot replace the author’s innovative thinking and ideological ability. In addition, he also expressed his views and suggestions on the growth and confidence of young scholars.

  At the end of the sharing meeting, the editors attending the meeting said in succession that as journal editors, shouldering the important mission of spreading advanced ideas and promoting the development of disciplines, they must constantly improve their professional quality and ability, ensure the academic and authoritative nature of journals, strictly control the quality of manuscripts, strengthen the publicity and implementation of academic norms, actively innovate editing concepts and methods, constantly broaden the academic vision and influence of journals, and constantly enhance the efforts to support and help young scholars. At the same time, young scholars attending the meeting said that this sharing meeting provided a valuable communication platform for journal editors to talk with young scholars, which was of great significance to their own growth and development.

  The successful convening of this special sharing meeting for journal editors not only strengthened the communication and dialogue between journal editors and young scholars, but also injected new vitality and motivation into the development of journals. I believe that with the joint efforts of editors and young scholars, we can accelerate the construction of philosophy and social sciences with China characteristics and build China’s independent knowledge system to usher in a more brilliant tomorrow.
