From May 4th to September 6th, the torch relay of Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games was held in 117 cities in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government. More than 20,000 torchbearers participated in the relay, and more than 60 million people went to the scene to watch it. Conscientiously implement Olympic food security measures

Strengthen public security patrol control

Local public security organs strictly implement internal public security measures, focusing on party and government heads and important infrastructure such as water, electricity, oil and gas, post and telecommunications, radio and television. After the "5.12" Wenchuan earthquake, according to the instructions of Minister Meng Jianzhu, the Ministry of Public Security mobilized 3,550 public security special police officers from 20 cities across the country to rush to the earthquake-stricken areas in Sichuan. From March to October, the public security organs throughout the country continued to carry out in-depth special operations to control explosions and arrest guns, focusing on Beijing and the six Olympic competition areas of Tianjin, Shanghai, Qinhuangdao, Shenyang and Qingdao, effectively strengthening the safety supervision of dangerous goods such as explosives, guns and ammunition, thoroughly investigating and rectifying outstanding problems related to explosions and guns, and effectively curbing the occurrence of explosion cases, accidents and gun-related crimes. During this period, a special campaign was also organized to focus on rectifying the illegal sale of firearms and ammunition on the Internet, and a number of online gun-related cases were investigated and dealt with.
Deepening gambling prohibition and building a long-term mechanism
In view of the repeated prohibition of gambling activities in some places, the public security organs throughout the country have continuously carried out crackdown and rectification actions, and have continuously increased the intensity of gambling prohibition, and achieved remarkable results. In the centralized crackdown on online gambling, a total of 179,000 cases and 584,000 people were investigated. In order to maintain a good order in the publication market, public security organs at all levels actively cooperated with relevant departments to further tighten the public security management of the publication market and printing and copying enterprises, and severely cracked down on illegal and criminal activities of infringement and piracy. A total of 13.917 million illegal publications were collected, and 5,119 cases of illegal publication, infringement and piracy were investigated and dealt with, involving 8,771 people. Strengthen the management of scrap metal acquisition industry
In order to strengthen the public security management of scrap metal purchasing industry and severely crack down on illegal and criminal acts such as stealing and damaging power, communications, urban public facilities, and collecting and selling stolen goods, the national public security organs, together with the administrative department for industry and commerce, have carried out in-depth special cleaning and rectification work of scrap metal purchasing sites, strengthened the filing management of sites, inspected more than 107,000 scrap metal purchasing sites, banned 6,150 illegal and illegal business sites, cracked 5,443 cases of various types and arrested more than 7,900 people involved in various types. Enthusiastic service, ensuring people’s livelihood, household registration management, and measures to facilitate and benefit the people are generally welcomed by the masses.
Local public security organs have further strengthened and improved household registration management service measures in light of local conditions. Fujian, Hubei, Ningxia, Heilongjiang and Harbin have implemented the procedures of moving from one place to registered permanent residence within the city limits, thus reducing the link of household registration examination and approval and improving work efficiency. In Hubei, Chongqing, Ningxia, Yan ‘an, Shaanxi and other places, for the elderly, the disabled and other people with mobility difficulties, an appointment service is implemented, and the police of the public security police station will take the initiative to come to the door to provide their registered permanent residence and resident ID cards. Hubei and Ningxia also provide the inquiry service of duplicate names and uncommon words within counties (cities) when the newborn baby registered permanent residence is registered. In accordance with the unified arrangements of the Ministry of Public Security, local public security organs actively, steadily and orderly promoted the centralized renewal of second-generation resident identity cards (hereinafter referred to as second-generation cards), and completed the task of centralized renewal of second-generation cards for 800 million people issued by the State Council five months in advance.
